Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers), Josette Simon (Anatomy of a Scandal), Nico Parker (How to Train Your Dragon) and Leila Farzad (I Hate Suzie) have joined the cast of Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, with nine signing on to reprise roles from previous installments of the beloved rom-com franchise.

Sarah Solemani, Sally Phillips, Shirley Henderson and James Callis will return as Bridget’s friends, with Gemma Jones and Jim Broadbent back as Bridget’s Mum and Dad. Hailing from Universal Pictures, StudioCanal, Miramax and Working Title Films, the film’s other returning cast members include Celia Imrie, Neil Pearson and Joanna Scanlan.

As previously announced, Renée Zellweger reprises the title role, with Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson back as love interest Daniel Cleaver and OB/GYN Dr. Rawling, respectively. Other newcomers will include Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall.

Based on the beloved novels from Helen Fielding, and a previous column she wrote as the title character for The Independent, the Bridget Jones franchise centers on Zellweger’s endearing yet perpetually single character of the same name, examining her relationships with the dashing Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), and Grant’s roguish Daniel Cleaver, among others. Previous films Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001), Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004) and Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016) together grossed over $760 million worldwide.

Adapting the third book in Fielding’s series, Mad About the Boy picks up with Bridget in her early 50s, as she navigates the challenges of modern life while juggling the responsibilities of motherhood. Michael Morris (To Leslie) is direxcting from a script by Fielding, with further contributions from Abi Morgan and Dan Mazer. Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Jo Wallett are producing through Working Title Films, with Working Title’s Amelia Granger and Sarah-Jane Wright exec producing alongside Fielding. Miramax and StudioCanal are co-financing, with the latter handling distribution in select international territories.

Senior Executive Vice President of Production Development Erik Baiers and Creative Executive of Production Development Jacqueline Garell are overseeing the project on behalf of the studio. The film is slated for release in theaters internationally and on Peacock in the U.S. on Valentine’s Day 2025.

Fisher is represented by UTA, Curtis Brown Group, and Sloan, Offer, Weber & Dern; Simon by Scott Marshall Partners; Parker by Curtis Brown and WME; Farzad by B-Side; Solemani by WME, 42, and Curtis Brown; Phillips by PBJ Management; Henderson by Hamilton Hodell and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman; Callis by John Summerfield Waring Mckenna in the UK and Luber Roklin Entertainment in the U.S.; Jones by Conway van Gelder Grant and Insight; Broadbent by Independent Talent Group and CAA; Imrie by Curtis Brown Group and Magnolia Entertainment; Pearson by Independent Talent Group; and Scanlan by Independent Talent Group.
