Diddy’s legal woes intensify with the music mogul now facing the possibility of a criminal indictment. A federal grand jury has been empaneled to hear evidence in his ongoing probe, paving the way for him to possibly face serious consequences.
According to TMZ citing CNN, the Justice Department has notified potential witnesses, including Diddy’s accusers, about the possibility of testifying before the grand jury in the Southern District of New York. According to two sources who spoke with the outlet/network, the Justice Department is taking active steps in its investigation of Diddy. The federal authorities have conducted interviews with most of the plaintiffs in the lawsuits filed against him, including the high-profile case brought forward by his former girlfriend, Cassie. However, witnesses and plaintiffs are yet to be prepared for their appearance before the grand jury. It is reported that Homeland Security Investigations agents are taking their time to ensure that the case against Diddy is “bulletproof” strong before any potential indictment is issued.
As we previously reported, Diddy has been named in eight lawsuits, with accusations ranging from sexual assault to human trafficking and other serious offenses. The gravity of these allegations led to law enforcement raiding Diddy’s properties in Miami and Los Angeles last month. The federal investigation also encompasses allegations related to narcotics trafficking and firearm-related violations.
Now, adding to the mounting evidence against the Bad Boyz Record label founder, a recently released surveillance video by CNN also shows an altercation between him and ex-girlfriend Cassie at an L.A. hotel in 2016. The footage showed him beating her, but due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, the L.A. District Attorney’s Office was unable to pursue criminal charges in this particular incident. However, the video further fueled people to call for him to be punished and it ultimately led to more women speaking out against him.
