Sony Pictures Animation is hoping to score with a new sports-themed animated feature from producer Stephen Curry.

The studio announced Thursday that the original movie GOAT is set to hit theaters Feb. 13, 2026, timed to the NBA‘s All-Star festivities taking place in Los Angeles that weekend. Tyree Dillihay (Emmy-nominated director of Bob’s Burgers) is helming the comedy film with co-director Adam Rosette (Orion and the Dark) from a script by Aaron Buchsbaum and Teddy Riley (Fairfax).

Plot details are being kept on the bench for the time being, and a voice cast has not been announced.

Producers include Curry and Erick Peyton for Unanimous Media, Adam Rosenberg and Rodney Rothman for Modern Magic, and Michelle Raimo Kouyate. Rick Mischel and Fonda Snyder serve as executive producers, while David Schulenburg is co-producing.

A four-time NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors, Curry is involved with a number of Hollywood projects, including the forthcoming Peacock mockumentary series Mr. Throwback that counts him as star and executive producer. He recently served as executive producer on the Netflix animated series Good Times and is also behind the basketball-themed comedy feature Trick Shot.

“As a lifelong fan of animation and sports, GOAT is my dream project,” Dillihay said in a statement. “We’ve got a modern take on a classic story in a rich new world where amazing happens. I couldn’t ask for a better team of collaborators to help bring this experiential event to life.”

Added Peyton and Curry in a joint statement: “We’re excited to have the opportunity to work with Sony Pictures Animation on GOAT, a special project we hope will resonate with families and sports fans alike. With GOAT, we look forward to uplifting audiences with diverse characters and heartwarming storylines that will have you rooting for the underdog.”
