The Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 premiered on June 2, and fans want to know where the latest season of the crime thriller series was filmed. Set within the titular town, where the primary industry revolves around correctional facilities, the series centers on the McLusky family. However, the series itself imbues Kingstown with a character of its own, fostering a natural curiosity regarding its real-world counterpart and filming locations.

Read on to learn more about the Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 filming locations and whether there’s a real-life Kingstown.

Where was Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 filmed?

Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 was shot in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

According to Jeremy Renner’s Instagram, production for the third season began in early January 2024. Furthermore, in May, Christoph Schrewe, who helmed one episode of Season 3, announced the filming had ended on his own Instagram.

Filming for the inaugural season took place in various places in Ontario, Canada, including Toronto and Kingston. The latter is the hometown of series co-creator and star Hugh Dillon. Production relocated to Pittsburgh and other areas of Pennsylvania for Season 2.

Is Kingstown a real place or fictional?

Kingstown is a fictional place.

There is no such town in the US state of Michigan. Moreover, filming for the series didn’t happen anywhere in Michigan, and it appears that will remain the case in the future as well.

Speaking to Trib Live in January 2023, Dillon stated they would return to the Steel City for future seasons.

“We wanted to scale up for season two,” Dillion explained. He further said, “Pittsburgh had all of these decommissioned prisons and when I scouted it (again for season two), I just fell in love with it. That place is it. We got 10 seasons mapped out. So yeah, we’re not leaving. ‘Kingstown’ will never leave Pittsburgh.”
