Could Donald Trump have his hush money conviction overturned and thrown out? Questions are now surfacing after the judge in Donald Trump and Stormy Daniels’ hush money trial flagged a Facebook post that seemingly claimed that a juror in the trial spoke about the guilty verdict a day before the former President was convicted, on May 30.

As we previously reported, Donald Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts in connection to the $130,000 hush money scheme involving adult film star Stormy Daniels, which occurred during his 2016 presidential campaign. On Friday (June 7), New York State Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan wrote a letter to Trump’s lawyer Todd Blanche and Manhattan District Attorney Prosecutor Joshua Steinglass regarding the questionable post.
The statement read, “Today, the Court became aware of a comment that was posted on the Unified Court System’s public Facebook page and which I now bring to your attention. In the comment, the user, ‘Michael Anderson,’ states: ‘My cousin is a juror and says Trump is getting convicted [confetti emoji]. Thank you folks for all your hard work!!!! [heart emoji].’ The comment, now labeled as one week old, responded to a routine UCS notice, posted on May 29, 2024, regarding oral arguments in the Fourth Department of the Appellate Division unrelated to this proceeding.”

It’s currently unclear if the Facebook commenter is in fact related to one of the 12 jurors who handed down a guilty verdict and convicted Trump, but the judge presiding over the case is seeking further investigation. If the commenter is in fact related to a juror in the trial and if the comment was in fact made before Trump’s conviction, he could now be entitled to a mistrial.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), conservative activist Laura Loomer wrote, “The Facebook comment was made on May 29, 2024, days BEFORE President Trump’s guilty verdict was announced, which means he could now be entitled to a mistrial because the jury pool was tainted and compromised.”

Additionally, Monica Crowley, assistant press secretary for the Treasury Department under the Trump administration wrote, ”Enough with this bullsh*t case. Mistrial. No retrial. Toss the ‘conviction.’” Meanwhile, Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene also spoke out on X and responded to Newsmax’s news segment, stating, “The fix was in from the beginning. If true, this is even further proof President Trump never had a chance of being innocent,” she added. “It was a sham trial from the beginning and the ‘guilty’ verdict came down from the Deep State and ‘the Big Guy.’”
Those opposing, like attorney and MSNBC commentator Katie Phang, wrote, “Correct me if I’m wrong, but if the post is a week old, per Judge Merchan’s letter, then it was posted *after* Thursday’s verdict, right?” Phang also uploaded screenshots of the Facebook profile of Anderson, a self-described “professional sh*t poster.” Phang added, “Assuming this is the same ‘Michael Anderson,’ I don’t think that the post is real.” She continued to follow posts from Anderson and eventually found one on his page seemingly confessing to stirring the pot and trolling. #Socialites, is it all a hoax?
