Kim Porter’s Father Slams Diddy Over Assault Video
While speaking to Rolling Stone, Jake Porter, father of the late Kim Porter, opened up about his disgust over a video showing his late daughter’s ex, Diddy, abusing Cassie.
The 78-year-old said, “You can say I was disgusted with the video, and I wouldn’t treat my enemy like that. It was despicable. I couldn’t believe it. I was in Vietnam, and I wouldn’t do that to my enemy.”
Jake mentioned he had never seen Diddy physically harm Kim before her unexpected death in November 2018, but the rapper’s treatment of Cassie has made him rethink his perception of the rap mogul.
“I didn’t know he could stoop so low,” he remarked. “I imagine it surprised a lot of people. I wouldn’t even do a dog like that. My heart goes out to Cassie.”

He continued, revealing that while his daughter genuinely loved the Bad Boy Records founder, living with him was unbearable for her.
“I think he was a very jealous person,” he explained. “They both loved each other. Kim’s love was legitimate. Puffy’s love, I don’t know what he calls love, you know what I mean?”
“I really don’t think he has any idea what love is,” he added.

“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was f–ked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses,” he stated in the clip. “My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted.”
Diddy continued, saying he was “disgusted then” and is “disgusted now.” He admitted he “sought out professional help, started going to therapy and rehab, had to ask god for his mercy and grace.”
Although he did not mention his victim, Cassie, by name in his apology video, he emphasized his commitment to “being a better man each and every day” and made it clear that he is not asking for forgiveness but is “truly sorry.”
Cassie Addresses The Assault Video
Cassie addressed the brutal assault video on social media, emphasizing the need always to believe victims of abuse who come forward to share their stories.
She said, “Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers and those I have yet to meet. The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning. Domestic Violence is THE issue.”

Cassie continued, “It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past. Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously. My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time. It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in.”
Concluding her post, the singer said, “I offer my hand to those that are still living in fear. Reach out to your people, don’t cut them off. No one should carry this weight alone. This healing journey is never-ending, but this support means everything to me. Thank you. Love Always, Cassie.”

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Unable To Prosecute Diddy Due To Statute Of Limitation
Before the video’s release, Diddy strongly denied’s allegations of abuse and rape, labeling them “offensive and outrageous.”
Following Cassie’s November 2023 lawsuit, the two quickly settled for an undisclosed amount, with Diddy asserting the settlement was in “no way an admission of wrongdoing.”
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has since condemned the shocking surveillance footage showing Diddy assaulting Cassie but stated they cannot press charges due to the statute of limitations.
In a statement on Instagram, District Attorney George Gascón’s office expressed their dismay over the video but clarified that because the alleged assault occurred in 2016, it falls outside the prosecutable timeframe for such crimes.
“We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles,” the statement read. “We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch.”
The officials explained that if the attack did indeed take place in 2016, they are “unfortunately” unable to charge Diddy as the “conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted.”
