The high school superintendent from Wisconsin who was involved in the altercation with a parent of a graduating senior has broken their silence on the matter, stating that any apology at this point isn’t going to cut it.
Superintendent Rainey Briggs, who was present on stage during the controversial graduation ceremony at Baraboo High School, revealed that he had been contacted by Matthew Eddy’s attorneys on Monday with an informal apology from the father. However, it seems that the apology did not resonate well with Briggs.

Briggs expressed to the Daily Mail that simply offering an apology does not erase the impact of the incident. “An apology just doesn’t make things go away,” Briggs reportedly said. He emphasized that Eddy’s actions had caused significant harm by forcibly blocking him from shaking his daughter’s hand on stage.
As we previously shared, the father of a Baraboo, Wisconsin, high school graduate was about to shake hands with Superintendent of Schools, Rainey Briggs on stage, and then her father unexpectedly approached and grabbed Briggs.
According to WKOW, the school district stated that the Baraboo school resource officer and two off-duty police officers who were present at the graduation “promptly assisted in handling the situation.” The individual was reportedly removed from the venue.
“We would like to emphasize that the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community members is a top priority,” a Baraboo School District statement read. At the moment it’s still unclear why the parent pushed the superintendent, but people on social media were outraged after the footage began to surface online.
