A man from El Paso, Texas, has passed away after reportedly being electrocuted in a jacuzzi in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday within a private condominium complex.

According to PEOPLE, family members identified the man as 43-year-old Jorge Guillen. His wife, Lizette Zambrano, was also in the jacuzzi at the time of the incident. A statement from the General Prosecutor’s Office of Justice of the State of Sonora said she suffered injuries from a “possible electric discharge. Authorities are currently investigating to determine the source of the electric failure since the incident occurred at the Sonoran Sea Report.
Lizeth is in critical condition and was transported to a hospital in the U.S. for treatment. A witness reported that she attempted to assist the couple but was shocked when entering the jacuzzi. Additionally, a nurse from Goodyear, Arizona, Sara Gaitan-Perez, who was staying at the resort, said the couple was alone in the jacuzzi when the incident happened.

She noted that her husband and son had been in the same hot tub about an hour earlier. Gaiten-Perez also performed CPR on the couple and said Lizeth became responsive and was breathing on her before being taken to the ambulance. Despite requests for comments from various media, the resort has not issued any statement regarding the incident.
PEOPLE also reported that a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the couple’s families. So far, it has raised over $27,000.
