According to cinema sites like Collider and Screenrant, Sony’s ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die‘ catapulted the classic action-comedy series straight past the franchise’s $1 billion global box office milestone. On Thursday (June 13), the fourth installment of the ‘Bad Boys‘ series hit $4.48 million in the U.S., bringing the first week’s worldwide total to $79.24 million and worldwide box office total to $125.6 million. The total includes 3,885 domestic theaters. All numbers shown are at the time of writing.
In ‘Bad Boys 4,’ lead actors Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return to the franchise as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die,’ which was directed by the dynamic duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, reportedly raked in $56 million domestically and another $48 million internationally during its first three days in theaters, creating a whopping $104 million global debut.
When comparing ‘Bad Boys 4‘ to ‘Bad Boys 3‘ (or ‘Bad Boys for Life‘), the franchise’s third installment grossed $62 million domestically and about the same worldwide during its opening weekend back in 2020. Just like the fourth installment, the third was directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and ended up grossing over $425 million globally, just before the pandemic nearly obliterated the film industry.

Despite theaters still trying to bounce back from the pandemic — coupled with Will Smith’s famous Chris Rock Oscars slap and following marriage drama with wife Jada Pinkett Smith — ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die‘ survived and has achieved significant success.
The film has so far received a stellar 97% audience approval on Rotten Tomatoes and an A- on CinemaScore.
