Here’s a fun little clip from a VFX reel for Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In the clip, it shows John Krasinski’s Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic sporting a different more comic-accurate suit in the film.
Krasinski had long been a fan-favorite choice to play Mister Fantastic and we finally got the chance to see him in the film as a member of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Illuminati. Then watch him being brutally murdered by Scarlett Witch.
I will say, after seeing him in the role, I realized that he didn’t really fit the part of Reed Richards, so I thought it was ok that they killed him off.
Reed’s role in the movie was brief, but Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron always planned on using the character in the film:
He said: “I always wanted Reed Richards in this thing. In my very first draft, I wrote a tag just for the hell of it, of the events of the movie being recorded and reviewed by somebody in the Baxter Building, and a stretchy hand coming into frame to run it back.”
Waldron added: “Reed is probably my favourite Marvel comics character, so I was always gunning to get him in here somewhere.”
Regardless of how the character was utilized in the film, it’s interesting to see the character wearing an alternate suit.
