PK Kemsley opened up about being six months sober on Father’s Day, said it’s the “greatest gift” he can give his five kids, and shared that he’s “grateful and proud.”
In May, PK and his wife Dorit Kemsley announced their separation months after media speculation. Last season on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Dorit shared that they were working on some issues, though at the time they were still together. She claimed alcohol was one of the past issues.
On a June 16 Instagram post, PK shared a photo with “Twelve Steps” written at the top, and he indicated he’s been sober for “186 days.”
“On Father’s Day the greatest gift I can give my 5 kids is to remain sober,” wrote PK in the caption. “Grateful and proud to say this weekend I am 6 months … Happy Fathers Day to all you great dads out there doing your best.”
During last season’s reunion, Dorit opened up about her relationship with PK. At the time, they were still together.
“PK was drinking a lot and he’s a drinker. I just think that its very difficult to have clear-headed conversations when he’s drinking so much, so he gave up drinking,” said Dorit, who shared that he was then at “49 days.”
“That was a very pivotal moment, so things are — knock on wood — as good as they can possibly be,” the star added, via PEOPLE.
Last fall, the couple told the outlet that they were not separated.
“We remain committed to working through these issues as a united couple for our family,” they said in a statement. “We have not separated nor are we planning to do so. Rather, we are focused on healing, making changes and doing the things that many couples have to do at some point in their marriage.”
“We would be grateful for everyone’s understanding,” the statement went on. “We are doing what we can to focus on the best interests of our family, as opposed to spending our time contending with rumors and hearsay that are not true.”
Dorit announced the separation several months later.
