Remy Ma’s Son Arraigned On Murder Charges For 2021 Shooting

Remy Ma’s son may spend time behind bars like she did in 2008.

Jayson Scott, the Terror Squad alum’s oldest child, was reportedly arrested and detained on Tuesday for the murder of a man in Queens. He and a co-conspirator were charged with multiple charges over the 2021 incident.

Remy Ma has two children from two different relationships; however, given their estrangement while she was in prison, it is unclear if she has a close relationship with her oldest son.

According to new reports, Remy Ma’s son has been charged with first-degree murder for shooting Darius Guillebeaux in June 2021. Other charges against him include second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.

Scott was arrested alongside Richard Swygert, who was involved in the deadly shooting. The co-conspirator received first-degree murder, first-degree reckless endangerment, and two counts of criminal possession of weapon charges.

Authorities claimed Scott and Swygert opened fire on Guillebeaux at 148th St. and Rockaway Blvd. in South Jamaica. The victim was shot multiple times in his head and chest, grave injuries he did not recover from despite being timely rushed to a nearby hospital.

Scott and Swygert were allegedly contracted to kill Guillebeaux, who, per Page Six, was 47 when he died and had a dark history with the law. The victim served four years in state prison for selling drugs and robbery before his release in 2017.

As stated, Remy Ma’s relationship with her son was obscure compared to her close bond with her second child, daughter Reminisce. The mother-of-two addressed their dynamic in a 2016 episode of “Love and Hip Hop.”

In the episode, Scott was honored to walk his mother down the aisle during her second wedding to rapper Papoose. The duo had an intimate conversation before she said her vows and Remy Ma was happy to reconnect with her son.

“I’m very, very proud of you, and I love the bond that we’re creating. I feel like we’re getting back to where we was before I went away for that long, long period of time,” she said, recalling her six-year incarceration.

Remy Ma confessed that she thought Scott would “hate” her for not fulfilling her motherly duties in prison. However, having her freedom did not seem to improve their bond.

In early 2020, Scott and his girlfriend, Diamond, welcomed their daughter, Milani Amora Scott. Although the proud parents hosted a baby shower the year before, Remy Ma was significantly absent from the attendees.

The rapper’s absence must have hurt; however, Diamond brushed it off in a classy retort on social media.

“His mother didn’t show up, and it’s not the end of the world, nor is it hate towards her. We gonna continue to stand tall and be the best parents to our child,” she reportedly wrote.

Remy Ma welcomed her son in 2000 and once addressed his birth in an emotional interview for Oprah magazine, per Pop Sugar. She compared her first pregnancy to her second, claiming she avoided having another child.

“I have an 18-year-old son, and I put off having a second baby for many years. I was in my mid-30s and still putting it off, not realizing my body was not the same body I had when I had my son Jayson when I was 20,” the media personality explained.

In the emotional interview, Remy Ma revealed she wanted her second pregnancy arc to be removed from “Love & Hip Hop: New York” because of her fertility struggles.

However, she chose to show her vulnerabilities to inspire women in similar situations. She confessed:

“I was scared, and I was embarrassed. But [my husband] was 150 percent right. So many women have commented on my Instagram or come up to me to say, ‘Just hearing your words, seeing what you went through, I finally felt like it wasn’t just me.'”

“‘I felt like less than a woman, and I felt like there was no one I could talk to about it, but you opened that door, so thank you,'” Remy Ma continued. She and Papoose welcomed their daughter, Reminisce, on December 14, 2018.

A year before her son’s arrest on murder charges, The Blast reported that Remy Ma turned back the clock to 35. She marked her 43rd birthday with a fun Prohibition-themed party at Casa De Lobo in Jersey City.

During the bash, the reality TV star humorously declared that she was eight years younger. “I appreciate all of you coming to my 35th birthday party,” she said. I don’t f—king count the ones I was in prison, and I don’t count the ones during COVID.”

As stated, Remy Ma spent time in prison for her involvement in a dispute that tragically resulted in the shooting of a woman outside a Manhattan nightspot. She regained her freedom in 2014 after serving six out of her eight-year sentence.
