Taking place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA on Friday, June 21, Hollywood’s biggest night celebrated some of the industry’s most influential figures, including ‘Creed‘ star Jonathan Majors was recognized after facing a challenging legal battle that saw him convicted of reckless assault and harassment last year which led to him being sentenced to a 52-week domestic violence intervention program in April. The charges stemmed from a March 2023 incident with ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, who accused the actor of assault.
After a two-week trial, a jury ultimately convicted Majors on two charges and found him not guilty of intentional assault in the third degree and not guilty of aggravated harassment in the second degree. Despite his conviction, and subsequent ended partnerships and revoked movie roles, Jonathan Majors did his best to maintain his innocence and float above his setbacks. The actor continued to push forward while being determined to earn his respect back from his peers and the industry.

Following all of his setbacks, Jonathan Majors is now being honored at the 4th annual Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards, being recognized for his perseverance. The Perseverance Award is given to an individual who has shown that no matter what adversity they face, they will continue to aspire to inspire.
Jonathan Majors was presented the Perseverance Awards by Iyanla Vanzant, whom he tearfully embraced upon receiving his award and sharing an emotional and motivational acceptance speech. Jonathan Majors revealed what perseverance means to him and how he has made his way out of some of the darkest times faced. Majors, in part stated:
“Perseverance means ‘persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay’ and the God I serve has put me in a position where I’ve had to embody that more than I’d ever imagined. We live in a world where men, Black men in particular, are propped up as either superheroes or villains. But I’ve come to realize that I am neither. I am just a man, an imperfect man who loves his craft, and whose faith has been tested and then strengthened by his testimony. There will be moments in your life where things get dark, really dark… and I’ve seen the depths of that darkness in myself. Sitting in pitch black darkness, I’ve learned that when you catch a glimpse of light, you run hard towards it and never take it for granted again.”
