“Grimm” meets “Harry Potter” in this new urban-fantasy graphic novel

Magic and monsters collide in Reversal, coming soon from Dark Horse Books. The graphic novel follows young Tré Grant as she takes on a magic-filled journey of monstrous proportions. Reversal is a contemporary fantasy/action-adventure, written by Eisner-nominated writer Alex de Campi, illustrated by Skylar Patridge, and colored by Kelly Fitzpatrick.

Two years ago, magic suddenly and violently became a thing again when the Earth’s ley lines reversed. Now, Tré Grant is just doing her best to survive sixth grade, which is a little more literal than it used to be, thanks to the monsters that regularly emerge from the nearby forest to attack her city. But when she discovers a magical artifact that could be the key to lifting the curse on the forest, Tré accidentally becomes the hero the city needs, even if she’s not the one it expects.

“REVERSAL is my love song to the Japanese urban fantasy manga that got me back into comics,” confides de Campi. “There’s high adventure and there’s comedy, but it’s wrapped around ‘slice of life’ and meaningful, deep emotional character arcs as Tré and her family navigate monsters, magic, metamorphosis–and middle school.”

Reversal (296 pages, 6.625 x 10.1875″, paperback) will arrive in bookstores March 18, 2025, and comic book stores March 19, 2025. It will be available for pre-order starting June 16, 2024, on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, TFAW, and at your local comic shop and bookstore , and will retail for $24.99.
