Following Kid Bookie’s recent rap-metal rager “Scars,” the U.K. musician is offering another preview of his new album, Songs for the Living // Songs for the Dead, with the heartfelt single “Love Me When You’re Angry.”
While still sporting some of the drop-tuned guitar aesthetics of “Scars,” Kid Bookie mostly croons his way through the new single with guest vocalist Ziey Kizzy. Together, they both work through their thoughts about the thin line between loving someone and loathing them — and how, sometimes, you can come right back around again.

“In this generation where everything’s such a microwavable moment — it has two minutes, it’s hot, and then you take out, and it’s just done — this song is asking to give a little bit of hope, a little bit of something to hold on to,” Kid Bookie says of the song. “It’s about how our heart changes for a person and how we learn how to adapt to each change and the shape of their heart.”
Songs for the Living // Songs for the Dead also features collaborations with Good Charlotte’s Billy Martin and Skindred’s Mikey Demus, as well as producers Tom Mitchener (Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes), Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me the Horizon, Nova Twins) and George Perks (Enter Shikari, Skindred). It’s due out Sept. 13 via Marshall Records and is available for preorder now.
