In the electronic music world, Knock2, ISOxo and RL Grime move with a menacing hush. While they may linger in silence for months, their sudden releases erupt like thunderstorms and make statements that reverberate through the scene.
This holds true for “smack talk,” a merciless trap track released moments ago by way of the esteemed record label and Asian hip-hop collective 88rising. Following ISOxo’s surprise appearance during Knock2 and RL Grime’s b2b set at Ultra Miami 2024, the track quickly became one of the festival’s most anticipated IDs.
“smack talk” is a bold middle finger to expectations, showcasing the production prowess of two rising superstars alongside one of trap music’s most influential producers. The track harkens back to classic festival trap vibes with its booming 808s, but masterfully takes the genre to new heights with ISOxo’s signature metallic snares, Knock2’s pulsating basslines and Grime’s atmospheric builds.
The track arrives in the midst of a busy year for ISOxo and Knock2, who were named to the EDM.com Class of 2022 and 2023, respectively. Known collectively as ISOKNOCK, the duo debuted at Coachella in April and Knock2 is now preparing to release his debut album, nolimit, later in 2024.
