In Worst Roommate Ever S02E01, “My BFF Tried to Kill Me,” we heard the story of two women whose friendship devolved into a murderous plot by Janie to kill Rachel. However, the episode was light on details about what happened after Janie went to prison. We’ve done some digging, and you can read below to find out where Rachel and Janie are now.
Where’s Rachel after Worst Roommate Ever?
Rachel continues to live with her son Ryder in an undisclosed location. While her health has improved, she continues to suffer from back pain. No further details were provided about her current living situation.
Where’s Janie now?
Janie Lynn Ridd was convicted of Attempted Intentional Abuse of a Disabled or Elder Adult and Attempted Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction on August 25, 2020, according to Deseret News. She was sentenced to up to 5 years for the first charge and 1 to 15 years for the second. Despite the severity of her charges, Ridd only served 25 months in prison and was released in January 2022.
At the end of the episode, we hear a shocking recording of a phone call Ridd placed in Salt Lake County Jail, stating, “I know what’s going to happen. I’m going to end up out of here. I’m going to find a way to get him away from her. He needs to come back to me now,” seemingly referring to Rachel’s son Ryder. However, our research didn’t turn up any evidence that Janie and Rachel have had any contact since she was released on parole.
Records of Ridd’s criminal proceedings and parole don’t appear in searches of public databases, so we can only assume she continues to reside in Utah. Given that her records aren’t publicly available, it’s possible that they were sealed or expunged.
