A Proper Preview For Absolute Power #1… With Animal Man (Spoilers)

There has been an Absolute Powers #1 Preview from Free Comic Book Day but this is a better one and has Animal Man in it.

Do you like Animal Man? Of course, you like Animal Man. Created by Dave Wood and Carmine Infantino in 1965, he was revived by Grant Morrison, Chas Truog and Doug Hazlewood in the eighties for DC Comics as part of what would one day be Vertigo Comics. The first superhero to throw a jacket over a spandex costume, he told tales of family life and superheroing, as continuity and reality crashed down around him, breaking the fourth wall long before Deadpool, inspired by Bryan Talbot. A lot of stuff has happened in the interim, including his own daughter growing up into Animal Girl. But now he’s the subject of greater indignity in the first issue of Absolute Power, written by Mark Waid, who was Morrison’s editor on Doom Patrol.

There has been an Absolute Powers #1 Preview that shows Superman being shot and falling out of the sky to the ground. Which is the same preview that has been seen repeatedly and in the Free Comic Book Day volume. To paraphrase Crocodile Dundee, that’s not a preview, this is a preview. Animal Man and Animal Girl under attack from an enraged mob and narrated by Amanda Waller…

And the media reporting that it was Animal Man who was attacking, but now may be at death’s door. And so it is the world over.

Amanda Waller has the Sanctuary software from Green Arrow, as well as the Brainiac Queen, Failsafe and Amazo hardware. Creating new convincing realities for the media to report is what she has been working towards her whole life.
