According to a recent post on the official Wicked X account, the new Wicked release date will be November 22, 2024, with the film moving up a week from its previous November 27, 2024 release date. While no reason for the change was confirmed, the movie was planned to release on the same day as Disney’s Moana 2.

Check out the Wicked announcement below:

What is Wicked about?

Wicked chronicles the untold story of the Witches of Oz led by Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. They are joined by Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, Keala Settle as Miss Coddle, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Bronwyn James as ShenShen, Ethan Slater as Boq, and more.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s bestselling novel and the Tony-winning stage musical, the film adaptations of Wicked movies are directed by Jon M. Chu from a screenplay written by the musical’s book writer Winnie Holzman. Three-time Oscar-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz also contributes. Both films are produced by Marc Platt through his Universal-based Marc Platt Productions.

Wicked: Part One is now set for a November 22, 2024 release, while Wicked: Part Two has been scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 26, 2025.
