Katie Maloney shared how she feels about the future of Vanderpump Rules – which was recently put on pause to supposedly give castmembers a break after the divisive past season. She also reacted to Scheana Shay’s comments about costars who still live in “apartments.”
On her Scheananigans podcast, Scheana said it was “sad” watching castmates on Pump Rules (and its spinoff The Valley) who are in “apartments” – as Scheana is now in a “house.” Scheana called it “depressing,” before seemingly laughing about it. Though Katie lived in a house during her marriage with Tom Schwartz, she moved back into an apartment after the divorce.
“I don’t even know what the future of Vanderpump is,” said Katie on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast, via Decider. “No one does at this point … It’s a weird — weird times.”
Katie then addressed how she feels about the show’s temporary hiatus.
“I’m fine with [the pause] because I have not in 12 years had a summer,” she explained. “It’s really nice to just have so much time to really focus on the [sandwich] shop, especially in the beginning of it all, and take like a trip maybe — just have time, really.”
“I’m not gonna be concerned [about the future of Vanderpump Rules] until it’s time to be concerned. And it doesn’t feel like this is time to be concerned,” continued Katie, who thinks the whole cast “feels good” about the break.
On a past episode of his SiriusXM show, Andy Cohen hinted that the pause isn’t bad.
“We used to do this all the time with the Housewives,” he shared, via Page Six. “We would say, ‘You know what, let’s put cameras down for four or five months and come back to them.’ And they will have lived life and things will be different.”
At some point in Katie’s podcast interview, via @breakingtherulespodclips on Instagram, she addressed Scheana’s controversial comments about the apartment scenes on Pump Rules and The Valley.
“Let me tell you about apartment living — from going from a house to [an] apartment — I don’t have to take care of s**t,” said Katie, who shared that she doesn’t need to handle things like leaks or breaking appliances. “I just call maintenance and they come and do it. It’s wonderful.”
