N.O.R.E. and Akon may have never worked together, but they do have at least one thing in common: being accused of having “fake hair.”
The two artists shared a laugh at the 2024 BET Awards where the Drink Champs host brought up the topic while interviewing Akon on the red carpet.
“They think me and you both got fake hair,” N.O.R.E. said to the “Locked Up” hitmaker after taking off his hat to reveal his crisp ceasar cut. “They jealous of the waves!”
After Akon joined N.O.R.E. in brushing his waves with his hand, the “Superthug” rapper joked: “We went to Africa, not Turkey.”

Despite the speculation surrounding his hair transformation, N.O.R.E. is adamant that his new dome is all natural.
Back in April, the Capone-N-Noreaga MC silenced the doubters, namely his good friend Fat Joe, by proving that his hair is, in fact, real.
The Queens, New York native shared a video on Instagram of Joey Crack inspecting his thicker head of hair, which marks a drastic change from his previously bald look.
The “Lean Back” hitmaker could be seen brushing N.O.R.E.’s hair as the rapper-turned-podcaster repeatedly insisted: “It’s real!”

The pair then dapped up, with Fat Joe joking about “going to Turkey” to transform his own bald dome.
Akon, meanwhile, has admitted that he went to Turkey for a hair transplant.
The 51-year-old appeared on The Bootleg Kev Podcast last year, where he spoke candidly about the $7,500 procedure.
“Don’t forget, in the beginning [of my career], my whole front [of my hair] was loose,” he said. “The painful part [of the procedure] is the beginning when they gotta numb you up. They stick a needle like this big and [stick it in your head] nonstop.”
He added: “It’s so affordable it’s ridiculous. For what I did, it would’ve cost me 50 grand here in America!”
