Katie Maloney on Real Reason She Dislikes Tom Sandoval

Katie Maloney spoke of her troubled relationship with Tom Sandoval during a podcast appearance on Tuesday.

As she also revealed if she’d ever consider getting back together with her ex-husband, Tom Schwartz, 40, and explained her sexuality following her season 11 hookup with Tori Keeth, the 37-year-old Vanderpump Rules star shared how Sandoval, 41, hurt her and revealed why they never got along.

“[Tom Sandoval] definitely was very manipulative of Tom throughout [our marriage] and the stuff that he said about me, just in front of me, in front of Tom, I want to know what that man said without me around, that is terrifying to me,” Katie admitted on the July 2 episode of Not Skinny But Not Fat. “Tom was highly influenced by him, so easily influenced by him that I can imagine, subconsciously, Tom Schwartz’s opinion of me changed over time.”

“I don’t want to blame [our split] fully on that. There [were] tons of issues but I don’t think Tom Sandoval has had the most healthy influence on Tom Schwartz in several ways, especially our relationship and marriage being a huge one,” she continued.

According to Katie, she “had to hold [her] tongue” for years because Sandoval was Schwartz’s best friend, and previously the boyfriend of a couple of her closest friends, including Kristen Doute, 41, and Ariana Madix, 38.

“I’ve sat back and observed Tom’s behavior towards me, towards my ex, and the way he treated and talked towards him and took ownership over him in so many different ways, towards my friends, towards other people … It [grosses] me out. And I couldn’t say so many things for so long,” she admitted.

When asked why Sandoval never liked her, Katie explained, “I’m one of those people that has opinions about bullsh*t that he does and he doesn’t like being called [out], being challenged on things. We would butt heads all the time … It’s been a history of things. There were times when Tom and I were closer and had a better friendship and relationship but we don’t mesh.”

Although Katie acknowledged that she and Schwartz had a “great friendship” and “laughed together” throughout their marriage, she confirmed she would not get back together with her former spouse because he’s continued to blame outside influences for the demise of their relationship.

“I don’t think he’s done any type of therapy or work. He still wants to be like, ‘Yeah, I understand, the bar and my family was going through stuff.’ I’m like, ‘Sir, when are you going to talk about your involvement in like our relationship and not showing up for me and giving me emotional support and acting like my emotions were not valid?’” she stated.

“There was so much missing … I needed a partner in life and I needed that big love and I just didn’t have that. I feel like he just didn’t like me in ways,” she added.

As for her sexuality, Katie, who noted that Tori was not the first girl she hooked up with, revealed, “I never have [come out as bisexual]. I don’t really identify as any which way.”

Katie also doesn’t have a type, saying simply, “I like hot people.”

Katie later added that when it comes to her love life today, she’s “not dating.”

“Unless someone’s really down to be serious about stuff, I don’t really want to date. It just feels like a waste of time. If someone wants to date me, they have to prove that they deserve a place in my life,” she explained.

Vanderpump Rules season 12 is expected to begin filming sometime later this year.
