DC Studios is currently developing the film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow with Craig Gillespie (Cruella and I, Tonya) set to direct, Ana Nogueira writing the script, James Gunn producing, and Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) set to star as Kara Zor-El.

Now, a new report from scooper Daniel Richtman claims that the producing team is looking to bring on Jason Momoa. The role he would be playing wasn’t mentioned, but it “sounds a lot like Lobo.”

Momoa has been rumored to be playing Lobo in the DCU for some time now, and it’s something that he’s teased himself. So, if this is true, it seems like Lobo will make his debut in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. But, as of right now, nothing is confirmed.

A previous rumor claimed that the project has been searching for actors to play the villainous Krem of the Yellow hills, Male, 25 to 45; and Kara Zor-El’s ally Ruthye Marye Knoll, 13 to 16.

It was previously explained that the movie is “based on Tom King’s wonderful comic book series that came out just last year… This is a very different type of Super Girl.”

In this film “we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time is an infant versus super girl who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to earth when she was a young girl and is much more hardcore. She’s not exactly the Supergirl we are used to seeing.”

In that story from King’s comic: “Kara Zor-El has seen some epic adventures over the years, but she now finds her life without meaning or purpose. Here she is, a young woman who saw her planet destroyed and was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who ended up not needing her. What was it all for?”

Wherever she goes, “people only see her through the lens of Superman’s fame. Just when Supergirl thinks she’s had enough, everything changes. An alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission. Her world has been destroyed, and the bad guys responsible are still out there.”

She wants revenge, “and if Supergirl doesn’t help her, she’ll do it herself, whatever the cost. Now a Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child head out into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core.”

Woman of Tomorrow will be the second DCU movie to be released in theaters after Gunn’s Superman. Warner Bros. recently announced it will be released on June 26, 2026.
