42 Dugg has been dragged for claiming that the quality of production in Hip Hop has “declined.”

In an interview with Kid L from last week, the rapper, who dropped 4eva Us Neva Themon Thursday (July 4), made a claim that many have taken issue with.

He began: “I feel like there’s been a decline in beats. The beats ain’t really been…That’s how I feel. … When we get in that bitch, it takes a long time to find a good beat. It used to, we go in that bitch, but it’s a whole new wave now. We’re trying to catch the new wave, and you don’t wanna sound the same. You don’t wanna keep giving these people the same thing.”

Check out the clip below, which begins at about the 21:10 mark.

The clip was captured by 2Cool2Blog’s Instagram account, and plenty of fans took issue with Dugg’s statement.

One user wrote: “Cause y’all not reaching out to other producers ..y’all artist just keep going after the same 3 or 4 producers expecting different results.”

Another added: “Producers I kno we ain’t letting shit like this slide.”

A third said: “Funny ass way of saying he got writers block.”

Others, however, agreed with him, with one commenter saying: “These new producers dont produce…. They just make formulaic sounding shit just like everybody else stuff thats out.”

Another concurred, adding: “Beats do sound the same and everyone does sound the same.”

Despite Dugg’s comments, producers are seemingly more prominent than ever before.

Metro Boomin dropped two albums with Future, while Mustard, The Alchemist and Boi-1da soundtracked the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.

Additionally, last month it was revealed that Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre‘s new album Missionary is coming sooner than fans may think, according to Tha Dogg Pound.

After the release of their own new project W.A.W.G. (We All We Got), Daz Dillinger and Kurupt appeared on Drink Champs this where they spoke about the highly-anticipated Missionary, which will see Dre produce an entire Snoop album for the first time in over 30 years.

“[Snoop] Dogg sacrificed ’cause he got an album dropping in July. This album with Dr. Dre dropping in July,” Kurupt said.

Daz then added: “He got an album coming out next month with Dr. Dre.”

Other rapper-producer albums set to arrive this year include collaborations between Nas and DJ Premier, Common and Pete Rock, LL Cool J and Q-Tip and Clipse with Pharrell.
