11 Must-Watch Amazon Prime Video Drama Shows on Right Now (July 2025)

The penultimate episode of Season 6 of “All American” was a rollercoaster of emotions and significant developments, set five months after Spencer and Olivia’s engagement. With Daniel Ezra’s exit officially announced, the show has accelerated through key milestone moments to ensure proper closure for his character arc. With the next episode being Ezra’s final one, hopefully the writer’s will conclude his story on a positive note.

The episode opened with Spencer returning to the Baker house, where Olivia was packing for their impending move to New York. Their wedding is just two days away, and tension was already mounting. A set of knives, received as a wedding gift, spooks Olivia, who worries about bad luck. Spencer’s accidental breaking of a mirror only heightens her anxiety. These small mishaps add a layer of suspense, hinting that their journey to the altar will be anything but smooth.

Meanwhile, Jordan and Layla were house hunting, adding another layer of tension. Jordan has decided to give up on the NFL, a choice that clearly weighs heavily on him despite his attempts to justify it. His struggle to find a new path is palpable, especially as he grapples with the decision to take a coaching job at Crenshaw. His uncertainty and secrecy surrounding his decision, underscores the conflict he feels about choosing the best path for his future. Layla, while auditioning new artists for her club’s residency, confides in Asher about her fears of making the wrong decisions, underscoring her own anxieties about the future.

Spencer’s reassurances to Olivia, even after he walked in on her wearing her wedding dress—a supposed harbinger of bad luck—highlighted his role as her steadfast support.
Coach Bobby’s request for Spencer to talk to Jordan about the coaching position reveals the interconnectedness of their lives and the weight of their choices. Spencer’s anonymous donations to South Crenshaw, resulting in a new weight room, showcase his commitment to his roots and viewers should expect nothing less from Spencer James.

The engagement party planning, fraught with mishaps, from Olivia losing her engagement ring to Jordan losing his voice, provides a humorous yet tense backdrop. The transformation of the beach house into a Las Vegas-themed casino night, complete with an unexpected Magic Mike performance, adds levity. The magicians’ dull act inadvertently solving the mystery of the lost engagement ring is a clever twist that brings relief and humor.

The episode’s climax at the rehearsal dinner, with a beautiful toast and a heartwarming slideshow, contrasts sharply with the news of their ruined wedding venue, leaving viewers on a cliffhanger. This final twist amplifies the tension, setting up a dramatic and uncertain wedding day.

Tonight’s episode balanced individual character arcs with overarching plot development. Jordan’s decision to take over his father’s legacy at Crenshaw hints at a new direction for the series. With Daniel Ezra’s departure, the focus will likely shift to Deion and the other kids at Crenshaw, with Jordan as their coach. This change, while risky, opens up new narrative possibilities and challenges for the series.

As the season prepares to conclude, it’s clear that “All American” is navigating significant transitions. Long-time viewers may find the shift in focus challenging, but it also promises fresh stories and new character dynamics. Whether this strategy will attract new viewers or alienate existing fans remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the emotional depth and intricate storytelling of “All American” should continue to captivate and resonate with viewers.
