Giancarlo Esposito is about to make his MCU debut in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, and it still hasn’t been revealed what character he will play.
Rumors have swirled since he was cast in the film, with some saying they thought he might play Dr. Doom, and others stating he might take on George Washington “G.W.” Bridge.
Now, Esposito has thrown a wrench in everyone’s theories, stating that no one has actually guessed who his “badass” character is yet!
The actor said at Fanboy Expo in Knoxville (via ComicBookMovie):
“The character I’m playing is a badass. That always excites me. For me to develop that character in line with the character’s inception is a fascinating art for me. I had an incredible time shooting it. I’m not telling you who I’m playing… People are trying to guess and no one has guessed correctly yet.”
So, it’s back to the drawing board! Esposito’s mystery character is featured in the latest trailer, who do you think he could be?
What we do know is that in the film, Anthony Mackie is back in the role of Sam Wilson, who is now Captain America. The movie also stars Liv Tyler, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, Rosa Salazar, Danny Ramirez, and Carl Lumbly.
Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) is directing the film from a script penned by Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman, both of whom wrote for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Spellman will produce with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
Captain America: Brave New World arrives on February 14, 2025.
