Warner Bros. has released a new promo spot for director M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming thriller Trap, and it focuses on the pop star in the movie Lady Raven, played by M. Night’s real daughter Saleka Shyamalan.
The promo highlights her new single “Save Me” which was a song produced for the movie, and this is kind of a music video of sorts promoting the song. At the same time, it also includes new footage from the film.
The film stars Josh Hartnett, and the story follows a father and teen daughter who attend a pop concert, “where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.” Hartnett definitely gives off the awkward dad vibes in this trailer.
We learn that the concert is a set up to catch a maniacal serial killer called “The Butcher,” who happens to be Hartnett’s character, the father who took his daughter to the concert.
We learn in this trailer what The Butcher is looking to do once he realizes that the cops have him trapped, and he basically starts to cause chaos within the concert. He says in the trailer that he feels out of control and starts doing some crazy stuff.
I like what I’ve seen from this movie and it looks like Shyamalan has made another good flick! I like the concept, and it’ll be interesting to see how the story plays out.
Shyamalan talked about this movie at CinemaCon, and he hatched the story with his pianist daughter over the course of several years of trying to figure out a sinister story to tell that ties to music.
The movie also stars Ariel Donoghue, Saleka Shyamalan, Hayley Mills and Allison Pill.
Trap will hit theaters on August 9, 2024.
