RHOC star Tamra Judge gives an update on her painful relationship with her estranged daughter, Sidney Barney.
During the Real Housewives of Orange County season 18 premiere, Tamra Judge broke down over her continued estrangement from her oldest daughter, Sidney Barney.
“Every time I see 111, I always make the same wish that … maybe one day Sidney will come home,” Tamra Judge told her younger daughter Sophia Barney while on the way to get the angel number tattooed on her arm.
“I know you don’t want to talk about her,” Tamra pointed out, with Sophia agreeing that she didn’t want to talk about her sister.
“I’ve always been super close to Sophia,” the RHOC star explained in her confessional interview. “I was very close to Sydney. With Sophia, we talk all the time, and I tell her that I love her all the time.”
“Unfortunately, Sidney’s on Simon’s side,” she added. “She doesn’t really speak to any of us. It’s difficult. It’s like your child’s dead, but they’re still alive.”
As longtime RHOC fans know, Tamra Judge and her daughter Sidney have been estranged since around 2015. At the RHOC season 11 reunion in 2016, Tamra revealed that Sidney had taken her dad, Simon Barney‘s side in their 2011 divorce and cut her out of her life as a result.
“My oldest daughter, Sidney, said, ‘I don’t want to live with you anymore. You’ve ruined my dad’s life,’” Tamra said at the time. “[She] left that day and has not come back.”
While Tamra and Sidney remain estranged to this day, the Bravo star continues to champion her daughter’s success from afar.
“She’s doing amazing and — without crying, guys — that’s all I can wish for as a mom,” Tamra Judge said on Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast following the RHOC season 18 premiere. “She’s very successful; she’s in the film industry, as well, behind the camera. So she’s doing amazing things with her life, and that’s all I can really wish for.”
“I mean, I can wish for more,” Tamra added, “but it’s in God’s hands really. God’s timing.”
She also revealed that Sidney recently contacted her siblings, Sophia, 18, and Spencer, 23, which is a step in the right direction for the family.
“She is reaching out to her brother and sister now, so that’s good news,” Tamra shared. “So we do have some progress.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County airs on Bravo Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
