Balance and Composure have shared the third single from their first album in eight years, With You In Spirit, which arrives on Oct. 4 via their longtime producer Will Yip’s label Memory Music (preorder). Yip previously said that the album has a little bit of everything that came to define Balance and Composure during their initial 12-year run (“It has the heavy stuff, it has the fast stuff, it has the groovy stuff”), and new single “Believe the Hype” is an anthemic rock banger that would sit nicely next to the Separation / The Things We Think We’re Missing era.
According to a press release, the song wrestles with preemptive grief, faith, familial responsibility, and mortality, and Jon Simmons breaks the fourth wall right before the song comes to an abrupt end: “I’ve got a fetish for suffering and then bleeding out for an audience.” “Believe the Hype” comes with a surreal video by Drew Horen, and you can check that out below.

Balance and Composure recently gave the album’s first two singles their live debuts at a one-off NJ show before heading to the U.K. for Outbreak Fest, and they have a headlining tour coming up this fall with support from Kevin Devine and MILLY. Find all dates on the tour poster below.
