More than 500 pages chronicling the horrors of Burden Hill

Dark Horse Books presents the Beasts of Burden Omnibus, a new paperback edition of Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson’s Eisner Award-winning series. With stories written by Dorkin, Sarah Dyer, and Mike Mignola, art by Thompson and Benjamin Dewey, and letters by Nate Piekos and Jason Arthur, this nearly 600-page edition collects every volume of Beasts of Burden published so far—Animal Rites, Occupied Territory, Neighborhood Watch, and Wise Dogs and Eldritch Men—along with Wise Dogs adventure tie-in stories and a special guest appearance by Hellboy.

When supernatural events threaten the quiet suburb of Burden Hill, it’s up to a determined group of ordinary dogs and cats to defend their home from demonic frogs, zombie roadkill, and a rat cabal led by a dead mystic with an insatiable appetite for blood.

The Beasts of Burden Omnibus (paperback, 576 pages, 6.625” x 10.1857”) arrives in bookstores on February 11, 2025 and in comic shops on February 12, 2025. It is now available to pre-order from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, TFAW, and at your local comic shop and bookstore for $29.99.

Praise for Beasts of Burden:

“. . . horror buffs and animal lovers alike will find a lot to like about [Beasts of Burden’s] tightly-scripted storylines, beautiful illustrations, and appealing characters.” —Publisher’s Weekly

“Dorkin’s script captures the well-meaning, dopey sentiments we attribute to our dogs and cats’ thoughts, and Thompson’s art finds a middle ground between storybook sweetness and EC Comics chills. It’s a lot of fun, and ideal for kids who don’t mind a little gore and ghosts with their adorable animals.”—AV Club

“Beasts of Burden balances humor, heart, and horror and fosters the contrast necessary to elevate a genre.”—MTV

“I imagine a just world, where Beasts of Burden is ten times as popular as Twilight.”—Gail Simone
