Alternative Press teamed up with Drug Church for an exclusive neon violet vinyl variant of PRUDE, limited to 300 copies. Head to the AP Shop to grab yours.
Drug Church will follow 2022’s Hygiene with their fifth album, PRUDE, on Oct. 4 via Pure Noise Records. It was produced and recorded by longtime collaborator Jon Markson, and vocalist Patrick Kindlon says “the goal is to put out good records that sound like we do. We’re not trying to do an OK Computer.”
“I’m hesitant to say this album is more emotional, but I think there’s definitely some emotional songs on the record,” he adds of the lyrical content. “I wanted to avoid some of the topics I’ve been hammering for years, but I almost can’t. I’m limited to what interests me, or upsets me, or grabs my attention. So there’s certainly classic Drug Church stuff – people derailing their lives, a strong pull to some type of individualism, frustration with mob mentality, this idea that maybe community isn’t what it’s sold as – but I would say that this album approaches it from sort of a sad storytelling way. This one feels more earnest to me.”

In addition to featuring the 2023 single “Myopic,” it also features the new song “Demolition Man,” which is another great taste of that classic Drug Church mix of hardcore punk and ’90s alt-rock. It comes with an Alex Backes-directed video that stars actor Biff Wiff (I Think You Should Leave, Everything Everywhere All At Once), and you can check that out below.
Drug Church also play NY and NJ this weekend with Soul Blind, followed by festival appearances later this year, and you can find those listed below as well.
