EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Pictures has pre-emptively bought the horror/thriller original script Familiar by Julien Magnat. Walter Hamada’s 18hz Productions will produce through their output deal at the studio. The plot line is being kept under wraps, but it surrounds a single mother who inadvertently invites an evil entity into her home.
This marks Magnat’s first spec sale. He previously wrote and directed the Milla Jovovich thriller Faces In The Crowd.
For Hamada, it was recently announced at CinemaCon that Paramount and Hamada are developing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, a live-action film based on the fan graphic novel of the same name.
Paramount also greenlit Johannes Roberts’ film, Primate, which Hamada will produce which was co-written by Roberts and will be directed by him. Oscar winner Troy Kotsur set to star.
