What Life Was Really Like in the 1980s

Tan Songyun, popularly known as Seven, is a talented Chinese actress and model. A Beijing Film Academy graduate, Tan debuted in 2005 as a child actor in the series Wild Chrysanthemum. Since then, she has appeared in several popular dramas and movies and bagged several awards for her exceptional acting.

The actress gained immense popularity after appearing in Tencent Video’s widely popular series As Beautiful As You. In this drama, she plays Ji Xing, an ambitious woman who resigns from her job to pursue entrepreneurship.

From Go Ahead to Flight to You, here’s a list of Chinese dramas the actor has appeared in:

Go Ahead (2020)

The drama tells the story of three troubled youths who come from dysfunctional families. They consider each other family and support each other in any way they can. But after high school, they are forced to part ways. When they reunite several years later, they attempt to heal each other’s past scars.

The drama is available to stream on WeTV, iQIYI, TVing and Viki.

Road Home (2023)

It is an adaptation of Mo Bao Fei Bao’s novel The Road Home. As seen in the official trailer, the drama tells the love story of Gui Xiao (Tan Songyun) and Lu Yan Chen (Jing Boran), who met in middle school and fell in love at first sight. As they grew older, their feelings grew ever stronger. They had hoped to spend the rest of their lives together but faced a series of obstacles.

Gui Xiao’s family faces several setbacks. Meanwhile, Lu Yan Chen ends up in a completely different part of the country because of his job. They try their best to maintain a long-distance relationship, but their careers get in the way, leading to their breakup. Will the childhood sweethearts find their way back to each other?

Road Home is available to stream on iQIYI and Viki.

Flight to You (2022)

This drama narrates stories from the lives of the flight crew of a well-known airline company. Aspiring pilot Cheng Xiao (Tan Songyun) struggles to get along with her grumpy instructor Gu Nan Ting (Wang Kai). She works hard to prove her worth in a male-dominated field. But she quickly makes connections because of her genuine nature and integrity.

As they work together during various emergencies, Gu Nan Ting begins to fall for her, and so does she. Will she be able to heal his past traumas while simultaneously working towards a bright future?

Flight to You is available to stream on iQIYI and Viki.

Master of My Own (2022)

An adaptation of Hong Jiu’s Please Call Me the Director, the drama tells the story of Ning Meng (Tan Songyun), who has dreamt of becoming an investment director ever since she was a child. But as she becomes an adult, she drifts further away from her dream. She works in an investment firm under the strict surveillance of her boss, Lu Ji Ming (Lin Gengxin).

Fed up with her stagnant life, Ning Meng resigns and applies elsewhere. In her new office, she applies what she learned from working under her previous boss. What she doesn’t know is that Lu Ji Ming has been helping her all this time from behind the curtain. They motivate each other to excel in their individual fields.

The drama is available to stream on Youku and Viki.

The Sword and the Brocade (2021)

An arranged marriage between General Xu Ling Yi (Wallace Chung) and the concubine’s daughter, Shi Yi Niang (Tan Songyun), gradually evolves into their falling for each other. Despite being born with a low status, Shi Yi Niang is ambitious and believes in women’s right to education and freedom. She uses her husband’s status to gain access to a life she never lived before.

It is available to stream on Tencent Video, WeTV, Prime Video, and Viki.
