On Wednesday, ESPN host Stephen A. Smith spoke out in support of celebrity model Amber Rose, who gave a speech in favor of former President Trump at the Republican National Convention and it went viral.

Smith commended Rose for her speech, highlighting how the topics she discussed, such as the economy and inflation, are relevant to many Americans. He also criticized those who criticized her online. “Y’all kick rocks with that,” Smith said during an episode of “The Stephen A. Smith Show.” As we previously reported, Amber Rose was asked to speak at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee to share her journey of becoming a supporter of former President Trump.

In her speech, she mentioned how her father, who supports Trump, encouraged her to look into the former president’s statements and policies beyond what the media portrayed. Initially believing he was racist, she accepted her father’s challenge and ultimately became a fan of Trump. “I realize Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re Black, White, gay or straight, it’s all love. And that’s when it hit me, these are my people. This is where I belong,” she told the RNC crowd.

Nevertheless, critics from various political viewpoints criticized Rose for her appearance at the event. Some liberal commentators accused her of attempting to attract minority voters in a manipulative manner, while some conservative voices argued that she did not align closely enough with conservative principles.

Smith sought to defend Rose against these critics, stating, “I know that Amber Rose took a lot of hits. Y’all kick rocks with that. She did a good job. She did a good job.”

“This ain’t Kanye West rolling into the White House to call Trump a superhero looking ridiculous. This ain’t that.”

He clarified, “Amber Rose gave a good speech. She talked about gas prices. She talked about shopping. She talked about stuff that hits home. OK? And with her 20-plus million social media followers, don’t think people are ignoring that.”

“You can dismiss her all you want to, and there’s a lot of people in the Republican Party – they didn’t want her there at all,” Smith said, adding, “But she’s a conscientious observer, and Trump knew what he was doing by making sure she was on that stage.”
