Atlanta, GA –

YFN Lucci has received some high-profile support from Killer Mike as footage has emerged of the deadly 2020 shooting he was involved in.

The video, obtained by WSB-TV, depicts a man getting shot from a moving vehicle during a gunfight before being pushed out of the car and left to die on the roadside.

Lucci, who was accused of being the driver in the shooting, cannot be seen in the clip.

The Atlanta rapper was initially facing the prospect of life in prison after being charged with murder over the December 2020 incident, which killed one man and injured another.

The 33-year-old surrendered to authorities shortly afterwards and saw his murder charge become part of a sprawling RICO indictment against his YFN crew, which prosecutors allege is a subset of the Bloods gang.

Lucci eventually reached a plea deal earlier this year, which saw him plead guilty to one count of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act after initially facing 13 charges.

The “Everyday We Lit” rapper was subsequently sentenced to 10 years in prison but with credit for time served, meaning he would become eligible for parole as early as this past May. WSB-TV reports that he may not be released until January 2025.

As his legal team continues to fight for his freedom, YFN Lucci has found the support of fellow Atlanta rapper Killer Mike who has written a letter to the city’s Board of Parole and Pardons calling for him to be granted parole.

In the letter, the Run the Jewels MC says: “Mr. Bennett [YFN Lucci] is a sought-after recording artist, one who other artists hope to partner with and will continue to make his mark on the music industry if he dedicates himself to his craft. Having known him for more than a decade, I have no doubt that Mr. Bennett is dedicated to his craft.

“In fact, I believe this experience has been transformative for him, he has narrowed his focus and strengthened his commitment to creating music. If given the opportunity, Mr. Bennett has all the resources and mental fortitude needed to succeed and return to society as a law-abiding, contributive member.”

He adds: “I respectively urge that you grant Mr. Bennett parole and allow him to re-enter society with his newfound sense of self, purpose and dedication.”

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, whose office is also prosecuting Young Thug‘s YSL RICO case, has also penned a letter supporting Lucci’s release from custody.

“[T]he State does not object to Defendant, Rayshawn Bennett, being released from Department of Corrections the first time he becomes eligible for parole or after serving one-third of his prison sentence, whichever comes first,” the letter reads.

Prior to receiving his sentence, YFN Lucci apologized to the murder victim’s family, as well as his own family and friends for his actions.
