Sheff G Gives His Girlfriend $50,000 Before Heading to Prison

In the current state of dance music, where the art often leans towards the minimal, DubVision’s debut album boldly embraces a maximalist approach, flooding listeners with welcome waves of emotion and nostalgia.

Another World, out now on Martin Garrix’s STMPD RCRDS after years in the making, stands as a vibrant testament to the Dutch dance music duo’s uplifting melodies and heartfelt lyricism, which refuses to shy away from complicated emotions.

DubVision.

Kelly Knisel

The highly collaborative project includes two collaborations with Garrix: “Empty,” where they alchemize anthemic leads with melancholic lyrics about seeking fulfillment; and “Wherever You Are,” which continues the emotional journey by blending soul-searching lyrics with euphoric sounds that feel like a nod to the storied heights of progressive house.

The album’s collaboration with Afrojack, “Underwater,” mirrors the impassioned complexity found in “Empty.” With lyrics centered on the need to let go of toxic relationships, the track’s soaring production creates an exhilarating and simultaneously nostalgic experience.

As Another World progresses, each track adds a new layer to the emotional landscape. Its closer, “Home,” is a fitting conclusion. With bright strings, spritely piano chords and warm, reassuring lyrics, it captures the essence of finding one’s place after a long and tumultuous journey. Much like the album itself, the track, which features a powerful vocal performance by STMPD favorite Shaun Farrugia, reflects DubVision’s personal and artistic growth over years of realized successes one step at a time.
