Under YG‘s sub-label, Somi released her first extended play, Game Plan, on August 7, 2023. Within the first week of its release, the EP sold over 66,355 copies. It charted at number 9 on South Korea’s Circle Album Chart.

K-pop soloist Jeon Somi is ready to make her 2024 comeback with a surprise new song, which will be released on August 2 at 1 p.m. KST in South Korea, 12 a.m. ET in the US, 5 a.m. BST in the UK, 6 a.m. CET in Europe, and 9.30 a.m. IST in India.

Somi has not revealed many details of the song but teased the concept, noting it is a ‘fun summer song’ that includes lyrics about ice cream. Previously, YG Entertainment’s girl group, BLACKPINK, released their summer song “Ice Cream,” featuring pop superstar Selena Gomez.

Meanwhile, Somi has shown steady popularity in the music charts through her multiple hit singles and the studio album XOXO, unveiled on October 29, 2021. Somi’s first studio album, XOXO, sold over 58,933 units within the first week of its release. It ranked 6th on the Circle Album Chart and 14th on the Billboard US World Chart.

After the success of XOXO, Somi took over two years to release her mini-album Game Plan, which saw better results on the charts. The EP’s lead track, “Fast Forward,” ranked at number 5 on the Circle Digital Chart and 10th on the US World Chart.

After two back-to-back impressive releases, fans look forward to the 2024 summer drop of Somi with high expectations. The singer joins the list of a star-studded August K-pop comeback lineup, which includes Red Velvet, ONF, and more artists.
