Taylor Swift Fans Drag Bill Maher For Saying Travis Kelce Will ‘Dump’ Her

The talk show host claimed on his podcast that Kelce will “dump” the Grammy Award winner. The comedian and actor also branded Swift as “very tacky” for singing about her relationships in previous songs.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have been very public with their relationship since they started dating and have shown no signs of slowing down.

Maher shared his thoughts on whether Swift and Kelce’s relationship will last. The comedian recently hosted Haliey Welch, known as the “Hawk Tuah Girl,” on an episode of his “Club Random” podcast.

He said, “I’m sure she’s a lovely person, but the whole thing with the football player. I just felt like 35 was a little old to be like, ‘My boyfriend’s a football player and I wear his jersey to the game with his number on it!’ Right? I mean, come on.”

Maher’s statement was a reference to Swift’s support of Kelce at 13 Kansas City Chiefs games during the NFL season. The singer was also present with his family at the Super Bowl in February, which Kelce’s team won.

When Maher discussed the possibility of the couple breaking up, Welch defended Swift and said she’s free to do “whatever makes her happy.”

Then Maher insisted that Kelce is eventually “gonna dump her, though. You know that.”

He added, “With her, it’s like the Gatorade at the Super Bowl, you know you’re gonna get dumped. You just don’t know when.”

During their conversation, Welch also said that if the couple did split, Swift would likely write a hit album about their relationship and breakup.

She said, “It won’t be ‘f-ck John Mayer’ no more, it will be ‘f-ck Travis.'” This was a reference to Swift writing about her romance with her ex-boyfriend John Mayer in “Dear John.”

Maher noted that the song about Mayer was a long time ago, as it’s from 2010.

He said, “Is she still singing about that?” Welch then explained that Swift had performed some of her older songs on her Eras Tour, which Maher criticized as being “very tacky.”

The 68-year-old said, “You can’t control what the muse dictates to you. She’s a songwriter. I can’t fault her for that. But It does seem like such a recurrent theme. At some point, you just wanna say, maybe you should write a song called ‘Maybe It’s Me.'”

Maher’s comments have since spread like wildfire online, angering several of Swift’s fans, known as Swifties.

On X (formerly Twitter), one person slammed Maher for his remarks, saying, “Why is the old windbag even mentioning Taylor and Travis? He has never had a real relationship, so he is the LAST person who should ever talk about anyone’s relationship! Go smoke some more weed and shut the hell up.”

A second person wrote, “He’s an absolute misogynist. These comments are disgusting but not surprising.”

Another wondered, “Is this called ‘clout chasing’? Like he’s talking about them so people will talk about him? Am I getting that right?”

A fourth person commented, “WOW! What a tool.”

Swift first spoke about her relationship with Kelce during her interview for Time 2023 Person of the Year.

She shared that they “don’t care” about hiding their romance from the public, as she did with her ex-boyfriend Alwyn.

“The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone,” Swift said. “And we’re just proud of each other.”

During a 2023 interview with WSJ Magazine, Kelce also shared that he’s not afraid of the public attention their relationship receives.

He said, “Obviously, I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them … I’ve never dealt with it. But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it.”

Kelce added, “The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange.”

Kelce has previously shared his opinion about proposing marriage to Swift at the 2024 Super Bowl. The Chiefs tight end was asked about a possible engagement during a media session at the Super Bowl “Opening Night” at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

According to The Sporting Tribune, when a reporter asked, “Is there going to be another ring besides the Super Bowl ring if you win this thing on Sunday?” Kelce replied, “I’m focused on getting this ring and that’s all my mind’s focused on right now.”

In May this year, a source shared with Us Weekly that Kelce “has no plans” to propose to Swift anytime soon. They said, “It’s not even on his radar. Marriage is something he takes very seriously and not something he would ever just jump into without giving it some careful consideration.”
