Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence is interested in reviving the classic medical comedy series and would like to tell a couple more years’ worth of story.
During an interview with LADBible, Lawrence was asked about the possibility of bringing Scrubs back, and he said: “I’m really candid about it. We’re definitely going to do it, just because we’ve all been enjoying hanging out.”
While right now, there’s “no huge drive” to make it happen, he very much wants to play in that world again, saying: “I’m open to it, and I don’t want to do it as a movie, but I’m definitely open to doing a couple more years of that show.”
He went on to tease his ideas for a revival, saying: “It would not only be fun to see where the characters I used to love are now, but also to see what a young doctor nowadays looks like, as far as the kids coming in behind them, you know.”
As for when this Scrubs revival could happen, it’s something they might figure out soon, He added: “So we’ve been talking a lot about it, and I think we’ll figure it out in the next six months or so what we want to do.”
This isn’t the first time that a Scrubs revival has been discussed. A couple of years ago, Zack Braff said: “We all want to do it in some capacity, whether it’s a movie or a limited series or something”.
Additionally, co-star Donald Faison said: “We’re on our way to doing it,” adding, “it’s gonna happen”.
Lawrence previously said of the revival: “We’re gonna do it because we’re lucky enough that people care. Top to bottom, we enjoy spending time with each other.
“If you ever have an excuse to work with people that you’d want to spend time with anyways, run to it… It’s worth it to me to see Neil back in that jumpsuit again.”
I loved Scrubs, so if they actually brought this series back with the original cast, that would be pretty awesome!
