Anthony Green always seems to be busy with one thing or anything, whether it’s one of his many bands (like L.S. Dunes, Circa Survive, Saosin, and the Sound of Animals Fighting) or his solo career. Today, he followed up his recent solo album, Doom. Spun., with a new two-song single, a folky new song called “Last Summer In America” and the previously unreleased, solo guitar version of “All Hours” from Doom. Spun.

About the new song, Green says:

I was walking around Europe a lot on the recent LS Dunes tour, and I found myself singing these words in this melody. I heard somebody say the ‘last summer in America’, but referring to how they were in America last summer, past tense. I started dreaming up the idea of writing a simple folk song about how we seem to be more inclined to talk about the end of the world rather than the end of these oppressive corrupt systems that we’ve all invented or inherited and agreed to take part in. It’s a meditation on whether or not a broken system can heal itself within its own mechanisms.

Check out the new song below and pick up the seven-inch here.

Green is also gearing up for a short West Coast tour in early September, followed by a newly announced Northeast tour in December, and in between those treks, L.S. Dunes will be hitting the road in support of Rise Against. Find the tour posters for both of his solo tours below.

In addition to the new solo songs, Green has been posting some solo acoustic partial covers on his Instagram lately, and he’s been playing a handful of covers on the road. Recent covers include Militarie Gun’s new single “Thought You Were Waving,” Land of Talk’s “Spiritual Intimidation,” and Liz Phair’s “Dogs of L.A.” Check those out below, too.
