Robert Griffin III is currently without a job, as reports indicate that the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback has been let go from his position at ESPN, even though he had a few years more left on his contract.

The news was reported by The Athletic on Thursday, but no specific reason was provided for Griffin’s departure from ESPN. This unexpected decision has left many wondering about the circumstances surrounding it.

RG3 responded to the news in his signature style, referencing the classic movie “Friday” to convey his feelings about the situation. RG3 had become a prominent figure at ESPN, earning praise for his analysis on “Monday Night Countdown” and his coverage of college football. In addition to his analytical roles, he also called games for the network and made multiple appearances on shows like “Get Up” and “First Take,” contributing to his strong presence in sports broadcasting.

The 2012 second-overall pick has not yet commented on the decision, but given his active presence on social media, it’s likely that he will share his thoughts soon. Fans and followers are eager to hear his perspective on the situation.

The change follows reports that RG3 lost his position on the “Monday Night Football” desk to future Hall of Famer Jason Kelce, who joined the team after his retirement. Given RG3’s talent and experience, it’s likely that his time in unemployment will be brief, as various media outlets will likely be eager to bring him on board for their programming. His strong analytical skills and charisma make him a valuable asset in sports broadcasting.

RG3 wasn’t the only one impacted by the recent changes, as longtime reporter Sam Ponder was also reportedly let go from ESPN’s roster. This move adds to the shake-up within the network, leaving fans and colleagues surprised by the departures of these well-known figures in sports media.
