Investigation Discovery has announced a lineup of true crime documentary series for the Halloween season including How (Not) to Get Rid of a Body (September 4), The Real Murders on Elm Street (September 9), and Cabin in the Woods (September 9).

The one that grabbed my attention was The Real Murders on Elm Street, which explores the many real-life murders that have taken place on various different Elm Streets across America.

While it doesn’t necessarily cover the real life inspirations behind Wes Craven’s classic horror movie, it’s sure to offer some interesting insight

How (Not) to Get Rid of a Body “explores the lengths killers have taken to get away with murder. Each episode reveals never-before-seen material and recounts tales of criminal masterminds who go to great lengths and efforts to concoct plans to dispose of their victims. However, the country’s top detectives are hellbent on solving these crimes and bringing them to light.”

The six-part series The Real Murders on Elm Street explores “small suburban towns across America that have been torn apart by murder. It asks how in a single night, these residential streets descend from peace and tranquility into horror, senseless death and tragedy. Each episode will examine a murder investigation that occurred on one of the many Elm Streets across America.”

Finally, Cabin in the Woods “explores crimes that take place in remote cabins around the country. It includes investigative elements in a true crime-meets-true horror fashion.”

Watch the trailer for Investigation Discovery’s Cabin in the Woods below.
