With a slew of performances opening for Foo Fighters and festival slots, Australian punks Amyl and the Sniffers concluded their U.S. tour with a couple of dates at The Fonda Theatre in Hollywood last week. Thrashing through a 19-song set, singer Amy Taylor and co. brought an uncanny bravado, delivering fan favorites (“Hertz,” “Freaks to the Front”) and their latest singles (“Facts,” “U Should Not Be Doing That”). Flyers were taped across the venue walls, referencing how the band wanted everyone to enjoy the show with zero tolerance of sexual assault or discrimination of any kind — a respectful reminder of just how serious the band take their live shows and crowd safety. Taylor’s relentless movements onstage matched the intensity of the fans thrashing in the pit, with a member of the audience even gifting Taylor with a bouquet of flowers. In exchange, she provided the fan with their setlist. Amyl ended their set with debut LP cut “GFY,” with Taylor delivering her trademark arm flexing, a lasting impression that showcased how real strength comes with respect. Amyl and the Sniffers continue their 2024 tour in Europe beginning in November.
