The much-awaited movie adaptation of Wicked is finally making progress with its filming process. In a recent revelation, fans seem to have caught a glimpse of Kristin Chenoweth, who played a pivotal role in the Wicked musical on the sets of the film. Based on Gregory Maguire’s acclaimed novel, the film had previously been stuck in development limbo for close to two decades. However, positive updates regarding its production are finally surfacing, much to everyone’s delight.

Here’s everything to know about the Wicked movie as well as the possibility of Kristin Chenoweth making a cameo appearance.

Kristin Chenoweth’s Wicked movie cameo possibly spoiled

In a nutshell, Wicked is a prequel to the legendary story of The Wizard of Oz. The spin-off installment follows the story of two witches, Galinda and Elphaba, the latter of whom eventually goes on to become the Wicked Witch of the West. The story was eventually adapted as a musical and made its debut on Broadway in 2003.

Notably, Kristin Chenoweth donned the mantle of Galinda in this rendition of Wicked. Consequently, fans have long been expecting the original cast of the Broadway production to make a cameo in the forthcoming Wicked film. Their wishes seem to have come true after Chenoweth was seemingly sighted by eagle-eyed viewers in a new promo for the movie.

The snippet showcases brand-new scenes along with behind-the-scenes footage of the cast during filming. One such sequence features the characters of Elphaba and Galinda, surrounded by the residents of Oz. Fans of Wicked were quick to locate a tall extra in the scene, who shared much resemblance with Kristin Chenoweth.

This development has led fans to believe that the 56-year-old actress could be portraying Galinda’s mother in the movie. Additionally, Chenoweth has hinted at making a potential cameo in the Wicked film. While talking to ET, she was questioned about her involvement in the big-screen adaptation of her musical.

Chenoweth shied away from disclosing specific details and instead replied with a cryptic “we’ll see.” Wicked boasts a star-studded cast and features Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in the leading roles of Elphaba and Galinda, respectively. The project is expected to come out in the theatres on November 22, 2024.
