Many people are concerned and curious to know what happened to singer Mariah Carey‘s mother and sister in light of recent saddening news. It was reported that Carey lost her two loved ones on the same day. She shared this news with the world in a statement, expressing her pain and sorrow. Following this, fans want to know the reason behind Alison and Patricia Carey’s demise.

Mariah Carey confirms death of her mother and sister

Mariah Carey, in an official statement, confirmed the untimely demise of her mother Patricia and sister Alison Carey.

She mentioned losing both her dear ones on the same day over the weekend, PEOPLE reported on Monday, August 26. However, she didn’t provide any details about the reason behind their sudden demise. She expressed gratitude for having spent quality time with her mother a week before her death.

“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,” she added.

Previously, Mariah Carey reflected on her complex relationship with her mother Patricia Carey in her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. She had huge respect for her mother who juggled motherhood and her career, and always wanted to make her proud. But despite this, she described their journey as “complicated” and said that often it caused her “pain.” Albeit they had mixed emotions about their bond, she lovingly dedicated the first page of her memoir to her mother. On the other hand, she describes her sister Alison Carey as “extremely intelligent and curious” in her memoir. She had witnessed her sister going through tough times amid their parents’ divorce. They too shared a rocky relationship and experienced distressing moments together, but Mariah Carey spoke of her dearly in the memoir and expressed her love for her nephews. (via Today)
