Hwang In-Youp is a popular South Korean actor who has played diverse and versatile roles throughout his career. He is set to appear in the upcoming JTBC K-drama Family By Choice. He made his acting debut in 2018 when he played a lead role in the web drama W.H.Y. The actor garnered worldwide attention for playing the second lead in the highly popular K-drama True Beauty. Over time, he gathered a massive fan base for his work.

Hwang In-Youp’s fans are excited to see him in the JTBC K-drama Family By Choice. Some of his other popular dramas include Why Her?, The Sound of Magic, 18 Again, and others. The actor will also be making a guest appearance in Kim Yoo-Jung’s upcoming webtoon-based K-drama Dear X. This article looks at some of the actor’s prominent K-dramas.

Family By Choice

Family By Choice is JTBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday K-drama that will premiere on October 9, 2024. The series follows the journey of three individuals who have been friends from childhood and spent their teenage years together.

Although they are not related by blood, they consider each other their family. The three people, Kim San-Ha (Hwang In-Youp), Yoon Ju-Won (Jung Chae-Yeon), and Kang Hae-Jun (Bae Hyeon-Seong) navigate familial relationships, romance and friendship in their lives. As of now, the streaming details of the drama are yet to be declared.

Why Her?

Why Her? is a popular K-drama that follows the story of Oh Soo-Jae (Seo Hyun-Jin), one of the country’s top lawyers. When she is on the verge of climbing up the ladder professionally, a case arrives as a setback, which forces her to get demoted from work. She takes the loss personally, which affects her life.

Soo-Jae eventually crosses paths with university student Gong Chan (Hwang In-Youp) when she takes a job as an adjunct professor. He helps her through her struggles as the two gradually fall in love. The drama premiered on July 23, 2022, and is available to stream on Viki and Netflix.

The Sound of Magic

The Sound of Magic premiered on May 6, 2022, and follows the story of a magician named Ri Eul (Ji Chang-Wook) and his rather extraordinary relationship with a teenager, Yoon Ah-Yi (Choi Sung-Eun).

The latter lives a tough life while attending school and taking care of her sister after her parents left her to fend for herself. She encounters the magician who drives her troubles away with his magic. Hwang In-Youp plays Ah-Yi’s classmate, Na Il-Deung, who competes with her for the top grade but also falls for her. Viewers can watch the K-drama on Netflix.

True Beauty

True Beauty is another famous K-drama that follows the story of a high school student, Lim Ju-Gyeong (Moon Ga-Young), who shies away from revealing her bare face. Instead, she improves her makeup skills to hide her true self and rise to fame.

Meanwhile, Lee Su-Ho (Cha Eun-Woo) is the only boy who has seen her without makeup and falls for her. The two gradually grow closer, and Su-Ho helps Ju-Gyeong find her true beauty. Hwang In-Youp stars as the second lead, Han Seo-Joon, who also falls for Ju-Gyeong. The drama premiered on December 9, 2020, and is available on Netflix, Viki, and Amazon Prime Video.

Freshman

Freshman is a web K-drama that follows the journey of the challenges faced by the outsiders of a college in order to be accepted inside. The drama features Hwang In-Youp, Lee Jung-Ha, Moon Joo-Yeon, and Jung Bo-Min. The streaming details of the same remain unknown.

Meanwhile, Hwang In-Yeop has also played other memorable support and guest roles in K-dramas, including 18 Again, The Tale of Nokdu, and more. Tune in to Family By Choice on October 9, 2024, on JTBC.
