Travis Kelce On How Taylor Swift’s Fame Has Impacted His Family

Travis Kelce has been a major NFL star for years, but his romance with pop icon Taylor Swift has catapulted his fame beyond the sports world.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end isn’t the only one making headlines thanks to Taylor Swift. Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, Jason and Kylie Kelce, Donna Kelce, and Ed Kelce are all adjusting to their newfound fame as well.

Before the 2024-2025 NFL season officially kicks off, Travis Kelce is sharing insights on how his family is adapting to the spotlight.

Ever since Taylor Swift was spotted in an NFL suite with Travis’ mom, Donna Kelce, his family has been in the spotlight, making headlines, getting snapped by paparazzi, and landing new sponsorships and partnerships.

But how is his family adjusting to the spotlight? The Kansas City Chiefs tight end said that the Kelces are embracing their newfound fame, with his mom, Donna Kelce, especially enjoying the attention.

“Everyone’s loving it. Mama Kelce is having so much fun,” he said on “CBS Mornings.” “I think my dad is slowly getting more comfortable with it, and Jason has always been a pro at it,” he added of his brother, Jason Kelce, who recently retired from the NFL.

Jason Kelce, former Philadelphia Eagles center, spoke out earlier this year about how his brother’s high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift has affected the entire Kelce family, including himself and his wife, Kylie Kelce.

“It’s been crazy,” Jason admitted on an episode of “The Whiskey Ginger” podcast in June. “Travis and Taylor have taken it to another level and that’s a whole other side of it. Kylie and I think we have it bad and then we go hang out with one of them, and it’s like, ‘This is a whole other situation here.’ You can’t be a normal person at that point.”

The recently retired NFL player went on to talk about how his wife is “a little bit uncomfortable with how much it’s become,” especially having young children. “I do think some of the other stuff she’s a little bit more hesitant and, ‘I didn’t really sign up for this.’ It’s big and our family’s out there and people know what our kids look like,” he added. “We’ve tried to retract from that a little bit.”

However, Jason also noted that his wife has embraced the positives of their newfound fame, particularly in terms of her ability to support and help others.

“She enjoys the fact that she gets to go and do charitable outings,” he explained. “She gets to give back to the community. She gets to do clinics with little girls for field hockey and all these other things. She enjoys that aspect of it.”

Travis has also expressed that, although his newfound level of fame is uncommon, he’s not resisting the changes that come with his relationship with Taylor.

“I’ve never dealt with it,” the NFL tight end told Wall Street Journal Magazine in November 2023, just weeks after the couple went public. “But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it.”

As for Taylor’s part, instead of shying away from the spotlight, the pop icon cheered on Travis and the Chiefs at multiple games, even being shown on the Jumbotron from time to time.

“Shoutout to Taylor for pulling up, that was pretty ballsy,” Travis said on a September 2023 episode of his “New Heights” podcast. “I just thought it was awesome how everyone in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her, the friends and family.”

Last year, Travis admitted that while he is open about sharing details from his relationship with Taylor, he has set clear boundaries regarding his personal life in the future.

“I know I brought all this attention to me,” he explained, per E! News. “I did the whole friendship bracelet thing and told everyone how butthurt I was that I didn’t get to meet Taylor.” However, he continued, he didn’t plan to give a full play-by-play of their relationship.

“What’s real is that it is my personal life and I want to respect both of our lives,” the NFL star added. “I’m enjoying life and I sure as hell enjoyed this weekend. So everything moving forward, I think me talking about sports and saying ‘alright nah’ will have to be where I keep it.”
