Amid all of the Kendrick Lamar 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show headliner controversy, a clip of Lil Wayne showing and high hopes to perform at the event is making its rounds on the internet.
While appearing on Compton rapper YG’s ‘4HUNNID’ podcast in February 2024, Weezy was asked if he would perform at the 2025 Super Bowl if given the chance. He took his glasses off and quipped, “Quit playing with me.” He then admitted that he had not been asked just yet, but had been “praying” that the shot callers would choose him for the headliner role. He said, “I will not lie to you. I have not got a call or nothing. We praying. We keeping our fingers crossed. I’m working hard. I’mma make sure this next album and everything I do is killer. I wanna just make it hard for them not to holler at the boy…I could be like [Rihanna]. RiRi came out there and just went from year to year to year to year to year.”
