Josh Brolin was offered the role of Hal Jordan in DC Studios’ upcoming Green Lantern series Lanterns, but according to THR, the actor turned down the role.
According to the report, the actor received on offer at the end of August. By the end of this past weekend, he made his decision.
It was previously teased in reports that the Lanterns version of Hal Jordan will be a grizzled, veteran Green Lantern in the series, which is taking its cues from the likes of HBO’s True Detective.
It was also previously reported that if Brolin passes on the opportunity to play this character, there are two other big actors on the list that the studio is going after for the role.
Those actors are Matthew McConaughey, but he apparently isn’t going to take the role either. Then there’s Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens with the casting.
Ozark’s Chris Mundy is the showrunner of the eight-episode series, and co-writes with Damon Lindelof(Watchmen, Lost) as well as Eisner Award winner comics author Tom King.
Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner, who will make his debut in Gunn’s Superman reboot, is expected to have a supporting role in the series.
