McG (Terminator: Salvation, The Babysitter) is in final negotiations to direct the KISS biopic Shout It Out Loud, which is being produced by STX Entertainment.

The film will center on Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley and their superstar rock band KISS. There’s no information on how the film will tell KISS’s decades-long musical journey, but I’m sure it will make for an interesting movie.

The report says that STX and Lionsgate see McG as the ideal choice to direct the movie “given his history of directing hugely successful music videos, such as Smash Mouth’s “All Star,” Sugar Ray’s “Fly,” and Barenaked Ladies’ “One Week,” as well as big studio pictures like Charlie’s Angels.”

I’m not the biggest fan of the films that McG makes, but this might be the kind of movie that he’d do a good job with. The most recent draft of the script is written by Darren Lemke (Shazam!, Gemini Man).

KISS was formed in New York City in 1973. The band is known for its iconic stage personas, each member donning elaborate face paint and costumes, and adopting alter egos, such as “The Demon” (Gene Simmons), “The Starchild” (Paul Stanley), “The Spaceman” (Ace Frehley), and “The Catman” (Peter Criss).

Their music is known for anthemic hits like “Rock and Roll All Nite,” “Detroit Rock City,” and “Shout It Out Loud.” KISS rose to fame in the mid-1970s not only for their music but for their highly theatrical live shows featuring pyrotechnics, blood-spitting, fire-breathing, and elaborate stage setups, making them one of the most visually striking bands of the era. KISS has became a pop culture phenomenon.

McG is currently directing Way of the Warrior Kid, starring Chris Pratt, for Apple and Skydance. He is expected to move on to Shout It Out Loud when that film is completed. Casting is said to be underway.

‘Bring Them Down’ is probably one of the best films I’ve ever seen. A brutal and believable examination of old family grudges in rural communities. Superbly shot. Sharp and to the point. As beautiful a piece of art as it is a moral reminder of how anger can lose everyone the battle.
